Having witnessed over 200 weddings in my career, I have an endless amount of wedding wisdom to share! Here are 5 timeline tips to help you enjoy your wedding day to the fullest.
1) Pad your timeline to account for the unexpected. Hair and makeup running late? It happens more often than you’d imagine and ends up pushing EVERYTHING back from there. Not a great way to start your day. Guests stuck in traffic? Now your ceremony start time is delayed. Give yourself the gift of breathing room on your big day!
2) You won’t regret a first look. The magical moment you catch eyes with your partner during ceremony is romanticized but a private first look before your ceremony allows you the opportunity to be fully present without an audience, you can share private owed you don’t care to say in front of hundreds of onlookers and in reference to timeline, opens up your option to do couples portraits, family and wedding party pictures prior to ceremony so you can participate in and enjoy cocktail hour with your guests!

3) Have a family photo shot list. I provide my couples with a default shot list that you can revise and make your own but having this list will allow me to call out family members by name to ensure they’re included in your family portraits
4) Along those same lines, save time with family photos by ensuring your included family members know where to be and when for group portraits. If you’re doing family photos after ceremony, it helps to have the officiant or DJ announce for immediate family to hang back at ceremony while everyone else clears out to the cocktail hour and you don’t have to spend time hunting down uncle Bob who rushed off for the open bar.

5) Block out time for sunset photos! Sunset photos are both aesthetic and offer you a break to step away from the buzz of the day and take a breather while simultaneously capturing some stunning golden hour glam shots.
